The Engineering Department at Cascade Charter Township manages the planning, design, and oversight of the Township's infrastructure to support the community and maintain public services.
The department provides engineering support for:
- Capital improvement projects including road and pathway improvements, streetlights, public facilities, and stormwater management
- Review and approval of engineering plans for site developments and subdivisions
- Coordination with the Kent County Road Commission, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Kent County Drain Commissioner, and other agencies on transportation, construction, and drainage projects
- Infrastructure recommendations for the Township Board, including cost estimates and consultant coordination
- Compliance with local ordinances, state standards, and the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) NPDES permit requirements, including implementation of best management practices, review of development impacts on stormwater systems, and support for pollution prevention efforts to protect water quality in local waterways
The Engineering Department collaborates with other Township departments including Planning, Building Inspections, and Parks & Facilities to deliver effective infrastructure services for residents and businesses.
