Cascade Charter Township and Kent District Library Announce Library Refresh Project

Cascade Charter Township, MI—Exciting updates are on the horizon for the Cascade Township Branch of Kent District Library (KDL). Beginning February 2, 2025, the library will undergo a refresh designed to enhance the space and improve the overall community experience.

While construction is underway, library services will temporarily relocate to the Good and Skutt Rooms in the Township’s Wisner Center. This refresh is a collaborative effort between Cascade Township and KDL to address necessary updates to the library facilities, ensuring the space continues to meet the needs of our residents for years to come.

Important Dates to Know:

  • February 2 & 9: The library will be closed for construction preparations.
  • February 10: Library services transition to the Wisner Center. A limited browsable collection, including the most popular items, will be available until the library reopens in June.
  • February 16: The library will close for final preparation before construction begins.
  • February 17: Library services resume in the Good and Skutt Rooms with regular hours.

During construction:

  • Holds will remain available for pickup at the Wisner Center.
  • Curbside service will continue at its current location.
  • Items can be returned to the Cascade Branch during open hours or at any of KDL’s other 19 locations.
  • Programs will be offered as space allows. For a full list of programs at all KDL branches, visit kdl.org/events.

Please note that construction vehicles will be onsite, and parking at the Wisner Center may be limited during this time.

“The Township is excited to partner with KDL on the remodel and improvements to the Cascade Branch. This will provide better resources and spaces for our residents. By modernizing the library, we aim to enhance the learning environment, support local programs, and create a welcoming space for all ages to gather, learn, and grow. We believe these improvements will help foster a more connected and informed community for years to come," said Township Manager Jade Smith.

"The design team focused on sourcing feedback from patrons from all walks of life. It was important to create something that balanced the cozy and timeless feel of the Cascade Library. To keep a fresh perspective, the team looked for ways to add a bit of fun with pops of color in intentional places to echo the native plants that will grow in the park, artwork that will be sourced from local artists, and in the children's area. I am most excited about increasing accessibility throughout the library for all ages and the bathrooms being renovated," said KDL Regional Manager Lulu Brown.
